Authentic Jungle Experience at the heart of wilderness
Located in the southeast corner of Sri Lanka , the 18,149 hectare KUMANA (YALA EAST) NATIONAL PARK is a well-known eco tourism attraction and bird sanctuary where a multitude of birds breed and roost. One of the most significant features of the park is the ‘Kumana Villu’ – a 200 hectare natural swamp lake, fed by the ‘Kumbukkan Oya’ through a half mile long narrow channel. It is at this mangrove swamp that many water birds nest in May and June. Regular sightings include such species of bird as pelicans, painted storks, spoonbills, white ibis, herons, egrets and little cormorants.
The very rare black-necked stork has also been spotted at the swamp. Besides the prolific birdlife, Kumana is also home to some of the mammals found in the larger YALA NATIONAL PARK (west) park, such as elephants and leopards. The vegetation in Kumana consists mainly of mangrove trees, kumbuk trees and the karan fern, as well as the open marsh area. For bird watching enthusiasts, the park is an ‘absolute must’.
KUMANA SAFARI BUDGET ARUGAMBAY TOUR
The half day tour will either be a morning safari or an afternoon safari. Depending on which one you choose the tour will differ.
MORNING SAFARI 5 AM – 11 AM
Your tour will star with us picking you from you hotel in Arugambay. We will travel with you to kumana national park by 4 wheel Jeep and after safari done back to village you will be treated to a delicious traditional sri Lankan Break Fast.

Absolutely amazing Safari
The staff were soooo lovely, the Half day kumana national park safri was very beautiful and perfect. we see lots of animals and all facilities are very cheap price. We had a really fun and memorable evening.I highly recommend this budget Arugambay Tours.
Wonderful Half day safari
Hi guys, we had the half day safari tour to kumana park. Everyhing is well organized starting from the pickup. I’ve contacted them via whats app and they are really responsive. They pick up from the hotel on time. The safari was really good and half day is very sufficient i guess for an experience. We have encountered many different species. We were able to see the leopard as well. They are really patient with us, so we could have great pictures.
Fantastic afternoon safari
Booked this tour through our hotel by recommendation of our hotel owner. Boy, no regrets there! Our guide Ansa was really friendly, spoke perfect English and took all the time in the world. Where the driver in Yala would stop somewhere for 10 seconds for us to make a picture, Ansa really allowed us to make amazing photographs. He explained all animals and proved to be a knowledgeable guide. His decision to take the lesser traveled roads lead to us spotting 3 leopards, one just 12 meters away in plain sight. Also, the car used during the safari was excellent. Very comfy.
Amazing sarafi! Two leopards, baby elephants, crocodiles, deers, peacocks, mongoose and birds! Manaf was great, really cared about finding footprints so we could see all the animals
Half day Kumana national park safari
Overall an exciting experience as the park is teeming with wildlife. The safari vehicle was good and comfortable. The driver was pleasant and friendly and took all efforts to make the trip worthwhile. We crossed paths with an elephant and after a tense moment he moved out into the forest. We saw a leopard and it passed us at a few meters distance. Also saw wild pigs, sambar deers, peacocks, hornbills, spotted deers in plenty, rabbits, buffaloes and a profusion of birds big and small, crocodile and large anthill. Would recommend this trip.
A perfect Half Day Safari in Arugam Bay!
Excellent Safari! Faina was a great guide, the homemade lunch was very delicious and we saw every animal, even the rarely seen Leopards! Thanks for this awesome experience!

Myself and 4 friends went on the half day safari and it was lovely. Our driver was very nice, nothing was a problem. He put huge amount of effort in trying to find the animals, we seen a huge array of gorgeous animals but unfortunately did not see a leopard despite our drivers best effort. Would highly recommend

Lovely safari to kumana national park
We did a private half day safari in kumana national park with Budget arugam bay tours. Even if we just booked it one day in advance ecerything was well organized. They picked us up from our place at 5am and then we headed off to kumana national park. The cheap was very comfortable and we felt totaly safe.the guys stoped as often as we wanted to take some pictures. They spotted a lot of different animals and explained us everything we wanted to know in a very good english. After the safari we got a delicious breakfast made by a local familie. It was all organic food, very tasty! All in all a perfect safari tour with very lovely people! We can highly reccomend it!
